How to make a claim
Claiming with BNZ Travel is easy. Our dedicated claims team will give you the support you need until the claim is resolved.
In an emergency while you're overseas call our emergency assistance provider, First Assistance on +64 9 525 0190. Our highly experienced team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you.
If you need to make a claim once you're home, please call our claims team on 0800 BNZ TRAVEL (0800 269 872). We're available 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
Our claims team will take the details of your claim over the phone and let you know if there is any extra information we need.
Once we have all your claim information we'll aim to assess your claim within five working days of receipt, though there may be a delay in periods of peak travel (June to November).
BNZ Travel Insurance is underwritten by Cigna Life Insurance New Zealand Limited (Cigna) who will be responsible for all claims and other matters relating to your policy. BNZ does not guarantee the obligations of Cigna, so if Cigna refuses your claim, BNZ will not be liable. BNZ arranges travel insurance as an agent for Cigna and receives a commission on any policies sold. Full details of your cover and a copy of your policy document is available by calling Cigna on 0800 BNZ TRAVEL (0800 269 872). Any insurance cover is subject to approval of a completed application and terms, conditions and exclusions do apply. Our Qualifying Financial Entity Disclosure Statement is available free of charge from any BNZ store or at bnz.co.nz.
Where you are a customer of BNZ, and you have become our customer as a result of our relationship with BNZ, we may share your personal information with BNZ who may use, store and disclose your personal information in the ordinary course of their business. For health related personal information, the authorised purpose will be limited to enabling BNZ to help administer any insurance cover, which may include participating in a resolution of a dispute over coverage.
